How Ed Hardy Apparel Started
Ed Hardy apparel has been everywhere lately. From sneakers to t-shirts to accessories like bags, belts and hats, the tattoo art has been found all over stores. Even other companies are trying to copy the style of the Ed Hardy brand. But where did it all come from?
Ed Hardy, first and foremost, is an actual person. His full name is Don Ed Hardy and he is a world renowned tattoo artist that mixes Japanese art with traditional American tattoo work. Though he is retired from tattooing, he still mentors other artists at his studio.
He isn’t the owner and creator of the Ed Hardy brand, though. A designer called Christian Audigier is. Audigier was originally known for his Von Dutch line. The Ed Hardy apparel line started in 2004 and the designs are all based on Ed Hardy’s famed tattoo work. The brand started in California, then soon popped up in stores all across America.
Ed Hardy designs are bright, in your face, and detailed. The best way to wear Ed Hardy is to make it the focal point of your outfit and wear more neutral items and colors as to not clash with the colors. Accessories are the best way to show of these cool designs, like Ed Hardy bags.
