Designer Fashion Accessories: Tips for Wearing Belts

Think you’ve got your belt-wearing technique down pat? It matters how you wear you belt; you can look unintentionally awkward and 80s, or you can look sleek and cool. Belts can make or break outfits, so for that reason, here are some tips for wearing these important designer fashion accessories.
- You’ve heard the old saying, “wear a belt that matches the color of your shoes.” Of course, there are exceptions to this rule, but generally it holds true: solid brown leather shoes don’t team well with solid black belts.
- Similarly, pay attention to how your belts match your jewelry and other accessories. If you’re wearing a belt with a gold buckle, wear gold jewelry.
- Have a mix of belts in your wardrobe. A black leather belt with a silver buckle is probably the most versatile belt, but have canvas, beaded, elastic and sash belts at the ready as well.
- Elastic waist shorts are great if you have a narrow waist and have problems with shorts gaping at the back. Elastic looks informal, however, so dress it up with a stylish leather belt.
- If you have shorter legs, lengthen your body by wearing a thick buckle belt high around your waist to create the illusion of a longer bottom half (tall designer shoes for women help, too).
